It's been pretty hard since AI was introduced in the art world. ErgoJosh, is an artist I've been following for years now. I'm grateful he made this video, and he inspired me to write this journal and also gave me hope, despite all that's been happening with AI and the algorithm and how it effects artists. I'm trying my best to stay positive. Art is my dream and passion, and I refuse to let anything get in the way of that. I've been drawing/painting since I was a child.

With that said, on to the topic, DA, like a lot of other sites is losing touch with it's users and people are understandably upset, but just going to Twitter alone isn't productive, but I understand where people are coming from. As an artist myself, I've seen social media have a lot of ups and downs. This unhealthy algorithm is hurting artists... It's not normal to feel like we gotta churn out so much artwork in such a short amount of time. Art takes time, and to go against that, is harmful.

This includes Instagram also, that was just a photo-based app, that's now used for videos as well, with the raising popularity of TikTok over the years. TikTok has it's uses, but the short video format isn't for everyone and I understand it.

Also, YouTube has made shorts for videos, which I have mixed feelings about. It's been trying to compete with TikTok, both sites have their uses. And I feel that money can cause these companies to lose sight of their dreams and what made their site what it is.

AI can make a lot of "art" in seconds, but that's because it's a mesh-up of stolen art. There's no heart in that. To make art, is to be human. We're perfect imperfections, and AI can't ever replace that.

It's not productive in the long run. It not only hurts artists, but everyone. It's also harmful to the environment. Just like with NFTs, it uses a lot of energy to produce this much "artwork". It's disrespectful. Not only to artists of the past, but artists in the now, and even the future. People that are buying AI "art" are getting scammed. It's a dishonest practice, that needs to be criticized.

This isn't what art was made to be used for. AI is an interesting tool in itself, but it shouldn't be abused like this. I think some people just don't realize that art isn't meant to be made this way. Scams are never a good thing, and it causes people to lose trust. It's really hurtful. To build a healthy community, trust and commitment is so important.

With all this AI stuff going on, Twitter is much worse since Musk started adding stuff that's breaking the site. There's many bots as of late, no matter how much I block, more show up. Also, it de-boosts posts from accounts that aren't paying for Twitter Blue, I've seen this happen with my own Twitter account.

And it's pretty sad to say how much Twitter has gone downhill in the past few years. 22 dollars is too much for something that was free in the beginning. Twitter Blue isn't any good... Musk is already rich, he doesn't need to do that. It's not only greed, but it's just not right. Twitter is a shell of it's former self....

It was really fun being on there, all the way back in 2016. It was like a 2nd home for me in a way, where I could be myself. And I miss that. I miss the fun times. Why can't we have more fun times? So, because of all this going down right now, it's important to have a discussion. If there's anything I missed, feel free to discuss in the comments.

I want to talk about this in a healthy way, and if this is going to be changed, we gotta be able to talk to people that don't always agree, that's how the world changes, and why we have some of the wonderful things we have. There's still work that needs to be done, but I know that we can do it.

So, I've been working on my art on and off. I want to experiment more with Krita so I'm working on that. It's such a lovely program.

I recommend trying it out at least once. I'm also studying more sharper art styles and it's very interesting how adult art styles have sharper, more intense lines, and child like art is softer.

This isn't always the case, but it's pretty cool to look at. I'm thinking about more what I want to convey and what my intentions are and it's pretty cool to explore.

Oh, and also Krita works well with Mypaint and drawpile, which are both also free. I also been streaming on Twitch and posting speed paint videos on Youtube and I got short videos on TikTok as well. It's really fun to make more art videos and just talk about the art.

The links to those are on my front page if y'all are interested. But yeah, I'm still around here just a bit slow getting stuff posted. I'll post a status update when I'm done! :^D

I'm happy to be spending more time on my actual stuff. For years, I've done so much fanart... There's nothing against fanartists, but I need to make my own stuff again.

A lot of people found me through N+C and MDZS stuff which is pretty cool, and I'm glad that some people still stuck around for my art style. I've been so burnt out on Fanart for so long so I don't want to do fanart that much for awhile. I'll probably still do it every now and then, just not as much as before. I just want to be creative and there's only so much you can do with fanart... I think it'll help me make better art just to think more carefully what I'm drawing/painting.

Currently, I use Ibis paint on phone and Krita on pc. I love Krita, but it took me a full year to actually learn it and not just keep putting it in the back burner like I've always done in the past. I'm so glad I stuck with it. Ibis paint felt a lot like CSP/SAI so I learned that in like six months. Both are great tools. I'll update my FAQ soon!

Anyway, that's all I can think of for now, thank you so much for reading! :heart:

For awhile now, I've considered deleting it. I'm starting to hate that site so much... It's no good, and people aren't really seeing my art on there. Yet, I get more favs/views here which I don't know if the algorithm changed or what. I'm very surprised how well my art does on here. I know it's an actual art site, but still.

There's just too much going on Twitter for me to even enjoy it anymore. There's politics mixed in with art and all kinds of shit... Someone said that deviantart was worse than Twitter and I don't see how that could be when with Twitter, almost anything is posted on there without any consequences...

Being on that site really just kills my overall mood. It's bad for my mental health. If I don't feel any better, I'm considering deactivating cause excuse my language, but fuck that website...

It feels like my voice doesn't have a place there and there's so much negativity I can't stand it... So I'll be more active here, but I'm sad that so many of my friends left deviantart for Twitter... That's the only thing that's preventing me from leaving cause otherwise I would have left ages ago... I'll be okay, just need sometime to cool off I think... ;m;

I'm still gonna be here posting art and such. I've been very active on TikTok and Twitter as of late. I'm also on bluesky a bit which I'm still working on, so that isn't linked up yet, but the other links are on my front page.

I'm just kinda sad what's been going on with deviantart lately... Some of my favorite artists art got deleted or their entire galleries and even their account... I just don't know what deviantart is thinking. I just don't understand since they allowed nsfw on here as long as it isn't that bad so I just don't understand.

I've been iffy about Tumblr for years and now that DA is doing this it's making me wonder... I was listening to some advice how it's important to have your own site and yeah, I can see what they mean, but the problem is I just can't afford it so I've been on a million sites trying to find a site that's kind to artists and so far it's the open source ones like bluesky, Misskey and mastodon... I'm on all of those. If any mutuals are on there let me know, I'd love to follow y'all back!

That's all I can think of for now. I'll be around later. ;;u;;
